Although considered softwood, woods such as eucalyptus and Acajou D’Afrique grown in Angola have a larger texture than other growing regions.
Eucalyptus species have been planted in Angola since the early twentieth century. The species introduction experiment of Tchianga, in the Angolan Highlands, was established in 1966/1967. Eucalyptus wood is very strong, high density, their harness even higher than white oak.

Description
Eucalyptus slabs, hailing from two distinct species – red and pink – offer a captivating blend of exotic flair and inherent durability. Both varieties boast a mesmerizing array of figures, with the prominent bee-wing pattern stealing the show, while captivating swirls and burls add an extra touch of intrigue.
Red Eucalyptus, as its name suggests, stuns with its deep, brick-red heartwood, reminiscent of a fiery sunset. Pink Eucalyptus, on the other hand, lives up to its moniker, bearing a striking resemblance to the delicate blush of pink ivory. Interestingly, the heartwood of both species deepens in color with age, acquiring a richer, more nuanced tone under the gentle caress of sunlight.
Adding to their visual allure, Eucalyptus slabs showcase a fascinating contrast between their heartwood and sapwood. The heartwood, the older, inner core of the tree, boasts its vibrant hues, while the sapwood, the outermost layer, displays a spectrum of pale yellow to soft pink, creating a delightful interplay of light and color.
But Eucalyptus is not just about captivating aesthetics; it’s also a powerhouse of strength. This dense wood, born from the resilience of theEucalyptus tree, presents a challenge to work with due to its inherent toughness. However, for the patient woodworker, this very characteristic translates into the creation of pieces that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also remarkably sturdy and built to last.
